Still tension in the Bundesliga? Bayern Munich loses top …

And suddenly it is all possible again in the German Bundesliga. A week ago, Bayern Munich seemed comfortable on its way to a ninth consecutive league title, but it dropped points for the second time in six days. On Monday there was surprisingly a draw at home against tail team Arminia Bielefeld (3-3), on Saturday the national champion was beaten 2-1 on the field of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt handed over his business card early on. After just four minutes, Amin Younes could have scored, but the Bavarian defense stood firm. At the second big chance, just under ten minutes later, it was hit: Daichi Kamada opened the score for Frankfurt.

Even after the opening goal, the best opportunities remained for the home team. Younes also missed his second chance, but the third attempt in the half hour turned out to be the right one: the ball disappeared into the top right corner. 2-0 for Frankfurt.

The home team went into halftime with a double lead thanks to Kamada and Younes’ hits, but with Bayern Munich you are never finished. After the 2-0, the national champion was finally awakened, but Coman and Choupo-Moting did not score before the break. Shortly after the break it was a prize after a splitting cross from Leroy Sané, which was kicked in by target man Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern smelled blood and pushed through, but scoring was not possible – thanks to a strong goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, who again loved Coman. Coman would miss a good chance after that. Ten minutes before the end, Frankfurt was denied a penalty at the hands of the VAR and Kostic saw the 3-1 saved by Neuer at the start of the extra time.

In the final seconds, Bayern missed an ultimate chance when Kevin Trapp slipped. However, the visitors could not take advantage. Hernandez then crossed, but Lewandowski could no longer put his head against the ball. Shortly afterwards, the final score was 2-1.

Bayern Munich only takes 1 out of 6 due to the defeat. Figures that we are not used to from the German record champion, but which they would like to see at first pursuer RB Leipzig. Bayern now has 49 points, Leipzig can reach 47 points if it wins at Hertha Berlin on Sunday. VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt share third place with 42 points.

Gladbach continues to struggle, Mainz on his way to rescue?

Slightly lower in the rankings is also Borussia Mönchengladbach on the dork. Gladbach surprisingly lost 1-2 against Mainz and could not win for the fourth consecutive match: it remains so behind with 2 out of 12. For the time being it shares sixth place with Borussia Dortmund – which will play the Revierderby later on Saturday against a fellow countryman Schalke 04.

Mainz is still penultimate, but actually takes 7 out of 9 and is suddenly only one point behind Hertha Berlin’s safe fifteenth place. Hertha and number sixteen Arminia Bielefeld both have 18 points and both have to play their game this weekend.
