Manchester City has done good business in the battle for the English league title. A goal from Raheem Sterling in the second minute was enough for manager Pep Guardiola’s side to shake off Arsenal: 0-1. Article link

The home team looked forward to a good result for a long time, but was unable to pass City keeper Ederson. It marks Manchester City’s eighteenth consecutive victory in all competitions.

Arsenal, the current number ten of the Premier League, could have little confidence in the statistics beforehand. Article link

The visitors from Manchester already laid the foundation for the victory in the second minute. Riyad Mahrez had a measured cross at Sterling, who left Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno without a chance with a header.

Manchester City started the game very strong at the Emirates Stadium and quickly got the chance to make it 0-2 via Sterling. On a pass from Kevin De Bruyne, Sterling got a great chance, but he needed too much time and saw Leno intervene. Arsenal could do nothing but defend in the opening phase and could be happy that after ten minutes of play it was not at a greater disadvantage. Mikel Arteta’s team survived the Manchester City whirlwind and then got into the game a little better. Nicolas Pépé was closest to the equalizer on behalf of the home team, but shot in the side net.

After tea, the best chances were for the Premier League leader. Ilkay Gundogan had the 0-2 on his shoe, but again it was Leno who got in the way. Because City failed to further expand the score, Arsenal kept the prospect of a good result. With twenty minutes left, Arteta brought in fresh forces with Emile Smith Rowe and Alexandre Lacazette in the hopes of dragging a draw from the fire. However, a goal for Arsenal was never going to happen. Article link

The best chance, however, was for Manchester City, but João Cancelo refused to decide the match.
