Hurdler Eline Berings remains 2 hundredths above European Championship limit: “Zuur” | BK athletics

12 years ago Eline Berings raced for the European title in the 60 meter hurdles. This year she would like to participate in the European Championship again in the hall, but she does not have a ticket in her pocket yet.

Today Berings got one last chance during the Belgian championship. In the brand new athletics hall in Louvain-la-Neuve, she stayed 2 hundredths above the limit: 8 “12. With a time of 8” 09, the win went to Anne Zagré (who already has her ticket for the European Championship).

Berings must now hope for a deliberation to be allowed to take action at the European Championship in Poland early next month.

“I have a bit of a subscription to the last few years”, Eline Berings responds after her match. “Not in terms of limits, but it’s been that way a few times. It’s sour.”

“But I am proud of my final. I finally ran much more aggressively, more like myself. Before that I ran too much with doubts and uncertainty and I was a bit tired mentally. I have nothing to blame myself for.”

Berings finished in 19th place in the European year ranking list. Sufficient for deliberation for the European Indoor Championships? “I have no idea what their policy will be. Of course I hope so. Give me another 2 weeks and then I will reach another level.”

With the Tokyo Games in mind, how important is that European Indoor Championship? “I see everything separately. A European Championship is a European Championship in itself. I wanted / want to be there. But we will see, it may be that I will not be there. Article link

The road to Tokyo continues.”

“Euro or no Euro, you are not rid of me yet. I will continue until the summer anyway, that is 100% certain. I think it is also realistic that I will be there in Tokyo, with a less disrupted preparation. “
