Corona news: again more infections reported than average

15.55 – ME carries out charge at the Museumplein demonstration

The ME intervened on Sunday afternoon around 3.45 pm at the demonstration on the Museumplein in Amsterdam. Shortly before, the demonstration against the corona measures had been dissolved by order of mayor Femke Halsema, but not everyone complied.

On the square in Amsterdam, a large group of several hundred ‘coffee drinkers’ mingled on Sunday between a multitude of sun worshipers and recreationists who came to enjoy the early spring day.

15.38 – More corona infections than average
Between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, 4,720 positive corona tests were registered throughout the Netherlands, 866 of them in Brabant. That is more than the average of the past week, which is 3935, according to figures from the RIVM. Yesterday, the health institute recorded 4,578 new cases over a 24-hour period, also above the average.

The number of reported deaths from corona increased by 17 last 24 hours. That is not to say that all those people died in a 24-hour period. Deaths are sometimes passed on after a while. 62 deaths were registered on Saturday, 50 on Friday and 74 on Thursday.

13.08 – ‘Let’s try to relax’
Chairman Onno Hoes of the NVM real estate association wants the Netherlands to try to open society a little more. He thinks that relaxation in the summer is ‘a bit late’, he said on television program WNL Op Zondag. 11.57 – Trust in the cabinet’s corona policy continues to crumble
More and more Dutch people do not support the government’s corona policy. This is shown by research by the Heart of the Netherlands panel among more than 3,200 respondents. In recent months, support for the policy has increasingly crumbled. More than half of the respondents say they no longer have faith in the government’s corona policy. Confidence has only declined further since October.

In the past 24 hours, three corona patients in hospitals in Brabant have died. Twenty were released from hospital and three were transferred.

10.57 – Mayor Den Bosch takes measures against dance protest
On Sunday morning, mayor Jack Mikkers of Den Bosch imposed a so-called ‘preventive order subject to penalty’ on several people. He learned from the police that these people wanted to hold a dance event against the corona measures and that they did not want to adhere to the ban on group formation, which is set to prevent a further outbreak of the corona virus.

10.16 – Employee tested positive for corona after Fieldlab experiment
At least one infected person walked around in the first so-called Fieldlab experiment that took place on Monday in the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht. That reports RTV Utrecht. According to the organization, it is unlikely that this person – an employee who was not in one of the bubbles – was infected during the trial conference because he or she had no complaints. In addition, the person, like all attendees, has been tested negative before the start of the event.
