this becomes the capacity of the battery

In 2021, Samsung will give the Galaxy S21 Ultra the same battery capacity as the current Galaxy S20 Ultra. This is evident from information that reached us.

Galaxy S21 Ultra battery: 5000 mAh

In mid-August we reported that Samsung will give the ‘middle’ model in the future Galaxy S21 series a larger battery than the current Galaxy S20 series. This also gave rise to the hope that the largest variant will have a larger battery than the S20 Ultra. That turns out not to be the case.

Information reached us that Samsung has a battery in the making for the alleged S21 Ultra – possibly also called Galaxy S30 Ultra – with product number EB-BG998ABY. This belongs to a phone with model number SM-G998: the largest S21 variant. We also learned that this battery has a rated capacity of 4855 mAh.

This means that the capacity of this battery is exactly the same as that of the battery of the S20 Ultra. This one also has one rated capacity of 4855 mAh, and a typical (advertised) capacity of 5000 mAh. Although the S21 Plus will have a slightly larger battery capacity than the S20 Plus, Samsung will stick to the same 5000 mAh energy source for its Galaxy S top model in 2021.

Of course, that does not mean that improvements in the field of battery life are not possible. We assume that the display of the S21 Ultra has the same dynamic refresh rate as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The battery life of that device – with a 4500 mAh battery – is not inferior to that of the S20 Ultra. We recently concluded that in our Galaxy Note 20 Ultra review.

And further?

In addition, we can also confirm the battery capacity of the ‘base’ Galaxy S21 that has surfaced elsewhere. That battery – EB-BG991ABY – indeed has one rated capacity of 3880 mAh, which equates to a typical capacity of 4000 mAh. That is comparable to the current Galaxy S20.

Earlier this week, the rumor surfaced that the S21 Ultra will get a 108 megapixel main camera. That is probably the ISOCELL HM2 sensor unveiled yesterday, which is an improved version of the sensor we know from the S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra.

In addition, the S21 Ultra would soon use two different zoom lenses, for optimal quality at different zoom levels. A lens may offer a traditional 3x optical zoom, while a periscope lens may provide more than a 5x zoom.

Samsung is expected to unveil the upcoming Galaxy S21 series early in 2021. The release will then take place later in the first quarter.
