The arrest came after the police received a complaint from an MDA volunteer on Monday, who said that when she arrived with the ambulance to provide medical services on Ben Zvi Road in Tel Aviv, a wallet, credit cards, cash and other property were stolen from the ambulance.
Police officers who arrived at the scene opened an intensive investigation, during which they managed to track down a suspect in the act.
After conducting patrols and searches, the 41-year-old suspect from Tel Aviv was located in the area – and arrested for questioning at the Jaffa police station, at the end of which he was imprisoned.
Yesterday, his detention was extended until today, and later in the day, another hearing on extending his detention will be brought before the Magistrate’s Court in Tel Aviv.
