The Knesset plenum dropped a heated debate on MK Bezalel Smutritz’s proposal (right) to establish a parliamentary inquiry committee into “conflicts of interest of the Attorney General, the State Attorney and judges in the Supreme Court, and in the courts in general.”

Likud MKs were absent from the vote. MKs Avigdor Lieberman, Yevgeny Soba and Oded Forer from Yisrael Beiteinu came especially from the isolation to vote against the proposal. Alternate Prime Minister Bnei Gantz and Blue and White MKs as well as MKs Mish Atid-Telem, Shas, the joint list and Meretz voted against. Right-wing chairman Naftali Bennett was absent from the vote, while his faction member Ayelet Shaked participated in the vote and supported the proposal, which was eventually rejected by a majority of 47 opponents to 6 supporters.
