‘KNVB wants a new national coach quickly and is speeding up discussions with De Boer’

Frank de Boer is in the picture to become the new national coach of the Dutch national team. The KNVB wants to present the successor to Ronald Koeman for the next international period and is speeding up a first conversation with the 112-time international. That reports De Telegraaf.

The union will soon have a table with De Boer, who is available after he was fired from Atlanta United. The former coach of Ajax added on Sunday FOX Sports that he has not yet been approached, but is very honored. His name was also discussed in the discussion of the KNVB management with the players’ council of Orange and there was no negative reaction. De Boer and agent Guido Albers were not available for comment on Wednesday evening, says the morning newspaper.

Although some of the players would like to see Henk ten Cate, possibly with Ruud Gullit as assistant, take over until the European Championship, he has not heard anything yet. Frank Rijkaard and Peter Bosz thanked themselves for the honor last week. Ex-national coaches Bert van Marwijk and Louis van Gaal have also been mentioned, but Van Gaal would not be interested and Van Marwijk only starts thinking about it when he receives a phone call from Zeist.

Dwight Lodeweges is currently doing the honors. The Dutch national team will play a friendly game against Mexico on October 7. After that, duels with Bosnia-Herzegovina (October 11) and Italy (October 14) in the Nations League await.
