At his own request, Gareth Bale is not in the selection of Real Madrid for the Champions League game with Manchester City. Trainer Zinedine Zidane didn’t want to say much about it at the press conference, but still let go.

The marriage between Bale and Real Madrid cannot be called successful. The Welsh man has a contract until 2022, but barely comes into action and seems to be no longer interested in his employer. The stories about it go in all directions. Bale is said to be a lazy and expensive banker who does not have his priorities in order, but another story is that the club has treated him with a bastard and that is why he takes this position. The fact is that this will no longer work out.

Zidane was asked several questions about it at the press conference. He announced that Bale is not in the selection at his own request. “Yes, but I’m not going to tell you more about it. It’s something between us,” said the Frenchman. “I’m not disappointed with him, but I’m not going to tell you anything else. This is the third question about Gareth. I respect him and everyone else very much. Some things have to stay in the dressing room.”

Zidane doesn’t know if Bale has a future at Real Madrid. “He is still a Real Madrid player. I respect that. The only thing I can say is that he prefers not to play. We focus on tomorrow’s game (Friday, ed.).”
