Scheepmaker made his debut as a feature film director in 1984 with the Job-filming Murder in ecstasy. He also directed the international war film Field of Honor in When you fall in love (2012).
Scheepmaker also directed many major productions for television. For example, he was involved in the first soap of the public broadcaster: On the way to tomorrow. He also directed episodes of series like Gold Coast, Flodder, Span Gas, West Wind in Unit 13.
In the past ten years, the director has been an ambassador for the film world of The Hague. This is how the series became Peacocks and herons (2008) included thanks to his efforts. Scheepmaker also played together with colleagues Ate de Jong, Dick Maas and George Schouten in the band The Directors.
