Tamar was found dead on Saturday, July 25, along the Zeedijk in Zuiderwoude, the dyke that connects Marken and Volendam. It turned out she had been hit by a car.
CCTV footage showed that the gray Mazda entered a parking lot around 9 past 3 am. More than two hours later, according to the police, the images show that two people get out of the car and walk to the front of the car. A little later they get back in and leave the parking lot towards Marken.
Following those images, the police called on people to share tips about the car. More than a thousand tips were received.
The Mazda will be forensically examined for traces in the coming days. It is now investigated whether the car was involved in the collision and whether the owner was also the driver of the car. The results of that investigation are not expected before the beginning of next week.
