The Moroccan-Dutch author Naima El Bezaz, known for the autobiographical novel, among other things Vinex women, passed away at the age of 46.
The news was announced on Twitter by writer Abdelkader Benali.
El Bezaz debuted in 1995 with The road to the north. With the novel Vinex women she broke through to the general public. The sequel to this bestseller, More Vinex women, came out two years later. Her last novel was published in 2013. In the following year she announced that she was making a switch from publishing house Querido to Lebowski.
In interviews she spoke several times about her depression and the threats she received as a result of Vinex women, in which she reported on her life in a new housing development in Zaandam.
El Bezaz made according to the WE herself an end to her life. She was married and had two daughters.
