Today the good news came that Fabio Jakobsen has awakened from his artificial coma. Paweł Gruenpeter, the vice director of the Polish hospital where the rider is staying, is optimistic about his recovery. “If he survives such a fall, he will certainly return to sports.”
Gruenpeter tells his story to Polish media. “We are very satisfied with how things are going. The patient is conscious, he breathes independently, he can move all his limbs and he can communicate. It is not possible to talk alone. ” According to the AD, Polish doctors contradict rumors that Jacob should be resuscitated after his serious fall.
The Deceuninck-Quick-Step rider was taken to hospital on Wednesday with serious facial injuries, where he has since been kept in an artificial coma. Initially, the doctors wanted to wake him up yesterday, but eventually it was decided to postpone the procedure until today.
Deceuninck-Quick-Step, Jakobsen’s team, has not yet provided an update on the current situation of the young sprinter.
