Two employees of the Emergency Department (A&E) of the Franciscus Gasthuis in Rotterdam-Noord are infected with the corona virus. That confirms a spokesman. The hospital has taken measures to prevent further spread of the virus.
The contamination was announced earlier this week. One of the two employees contracted corona in private. After that, a second employee was found to be infected.
The infected employees were quarantined immediately at home. Their colleagues at the emergency room are being tested. Employees who have been in contact with the two infected colleagues are the first to be tested.
The other emergency staff members will all wear medical masks for the next fourteen days as a precaution.
The department of Medical Microbiology and Infection Prevention in the hospital continuously monitors for infectious diseases in the hospital and is now also doing the same with the corona virus. The hospital says that by taking these preventive measures, it can continue to provide safe care.
