Two employees of the Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS) have tested positive for COVID-19. The CBvS reports that immediately after receiving the message, it proceeded according to protocol to disinfect its locations and to close the bank to employees and customers.
The number of corona infections since the outbreak in Suriname is now above 2,000. On Wednesday evening, it was reported that 69 people had tested positive for the dreaded virus in the past 48 hours. In the past 24 hours, 49 people have been declared cured. With the new cases, the counter of the total number of infections has jumped to 2,050.
There are currently 696 active cases and a total of 1,327 individuals have been declared cured. 88 people are nursed in hospitals. 13 patients are nursed in the intensive care units of the hospitals. There are now 654 people in quarantine and 595 people in isolation. The virus killed 27 people.
