Trump’s move will cost iPhone sales

Donald Trump does what he wants, even if the consequences for the American iPhone, for example, are major.

It’s no surprise. The President of the United States is not very fond of foreign companies. America first, as he would say. However, the decisions his government makes also affect American companies, in this case Apple.

It was recently announced that the president will not only lift a ban on TikTok, but also on WeChat. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this move by Trump will affect iPhone sales. And we’re talking about selling iPhone in China.

The ban means that WeChat may be removed from the App Store. Not just in the US, but around the world. However, WeChat is the number one messaging app in China. A smartphone without WeChat is unthinkable in the Asian country. The iPhone would therefore become a worthless device in China.

In the best possible scenario, WeChat will only disappear from the US App Store, Kuo said. The analyst estimates that iPhone sales will drop between three and six percent due to Trump’s move. It remains to be seen what the exact consequences will be. (via Appleinsider)
