Nathan Aké will play for Manchester City from next season. English media assured last week that Bournemouth, which has been relegated from the Premier League, has accepted an offer of more than 45 million euros for the defender, although there is still waiting for white smoke from the clubs. Wim Kieft bets on Saturday The Telegraph for two reasons question the approaching transfer of the 25-year-old Orange international, who left the ranks of Chelsea in 2017.
Kieft states that Manchester City as a whole is not good enough to dominate and is therefore very vulnerable defensively. Defenders such as Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy, Nicolás Otamendi and John Stones are ‘all just not good enough’ in the view of the former Orange international. Kieft thinks it is ‘brutal’ on Josep Guardiola’s side that he wants to add Aké to the defense of Manchester City. “Aké will also discover that it is a job to play there and that he will also have the biggest problems,” Kieft assures in his column in the newspaper.
“Aké can play a nice ball and has eight years of experience in England. They will have bought him on his defensive qualities, although he is strongest when he plays around sixteen meters and that happens less often at City. I sometimes find him a bit wild. ” Kieft understands that it is of course a great opportunity for Aké, especially now the Cherries descended to the Championship. “It will be a concern if he is considered a reinforcement for the width. He draws and will earn a huge salary for five years and he will end up in a great selection. ”
Why Nathan Aké doesn’t make the obvious transfer to Chelsea
Why has it also been looking for a center-back Chelsea who has decided not to disclose the Nathan Aké repurchase option? And what do the prospects for the Dutchman at Manchester City look like? You read it all in this article.
Still, Kieft generally has doubts about the impending transfer of Aké to the Etihad Stadium. “The transfer indicates the unfairness in football,” said the former attacker. “Manchester City can buy a player for whom they don’t even know if they will accrue for 40 or 45 million euros. In addition, the club has just had three turns and it got away very well with UEFA’s penalty. They just keep on going and you will see the power of capital. ”
Manchester would be excluded from European football for two years because of misleading UEFA around a sponsorship deal that actually yielded much more than was on the books. The international sports court CAS, however, found insufficient evidence for this. The fine for that the Citizens was reduced from thirty to ten million euros, also because the club cooperated laboriously in the investigation. The Financial Fair Play rules were introduced in 2011 to promote sound financial policy at clubs and should, among other things, prevent wealthy club owners from making large losses with equity.
Three years ago Aké made the switch from Chelsea to Bournemouth for 22 million euros. A return to the club from London was also a possibility for a long time and Manchester United also kept an eye on developments around the former youth player of Feyenoord.
