Thousands of people marched in Berlin today (Saturday) in protest against measures taken to halt the spread of the corona in Germany, claiming they are violating their rights and freedoms. This is at a time when the authorities fear that the country is in the midst of a new wave, in light of an increase in the number of people infected.

According to police estimates, close to 17,000 protesters marched in the center of the capital, with the crowd of protesters including libertarians, supporters of the constitution and vaccine opponents. Alongside them was also the presence of far-right activists and demonstrators carrying the German imperial flag.

The demonstrators danced and sang “We are free people!” To the sound of Queens’ song “We Will Rock You,” and others marched with signs saying “We make noise because we steal our freedom,” and “Think and do not wear a mask.” One of the protesters, who asked to remain anonymous, said that “our demand is to return to democracy. The mask that enslaves us must disappear.”
