The ultra-Orthodox factions: “We will not cooperate with an initiative to bring forward elections”

The Minister of the Interior Aryeh Deri, Minister of Construction and Housing Yaakov Litzman, And Chairman of the Finance Committee MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni, Held an in-depth discussion today (Thursday) in light of the political circumstances and the delay in formulating the state budget. At the same time, the leaders of the Shas factions and Torah Judaism addressed a message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz, calling for joint action that would prevent further elections.

“Israeli citizens are currently facing difficult problems, health and economic, and the very thought of going to the polls at this time is complete madness,” they said. “It is time to turn to everything else, to bring about urgent approval of the state budget, so that we can focus on the challenges of the economy and the health system, in the face of the corona crisis plaguing Israeli citizens and the whole world. We will not cooperate with any initiative to advance elections.”

A white brush was given in response to the words of the heads of the ultra-Orthodox factions: “Israeli citizens will not forgive those who drag the country to the elections in a medical and economic emergency. Deri, Litzman and Gafni are right – must pass a budget as all Israeli economists recommend and strengthen Israeli citizens, economy and society.”

As you may recall, the coalition tensions over the budget threaten cooperation between the parties. Both the Likud and the blue and white insist on their position. The Likud continues to promote an annual budget, while Gantz’s party insists on a budget for 2021 as well.
