Two and a half weeks after the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance presented the grant plan to every citizen, this morning (Sunday) Social Security began to transfer the money to the accounts. In the first phase, the first “Government Corona Grant” will be given to families with children under the age of 18 – NIS 500 per child up to the fourth child in the family, and then NIS 300 per child. In total, grants will be transferred from the government today to 1.220 million bank accounts of parents, who regularly receive a child allowance every month. The amount to be transferred in the first beat is about NIS 1.45 billion, for about 2,980,000 children.
Last week, Meir Spiegler, director general of the National Insurance Institute, said that “a project the size of a grant for every citizen has never been in our districts. Social Security workers have continued to work in an emergency format since March, meeting national missions, aware of the size of the hour and the mission on its side. The funds will be transferred to the eligible beneficiaries until the last citizen receives the grants he deserves. ”
Meanwhile, over the weekend, children’s rights organizations with disabilities, led by Alut, Ichut, Ilan, Akim and other organizations, appealed to Finance Minister Israel Katz to include children with disabilities who receive a disabled child benefit in the circle entitled to a special grant of 750 Shekel, like other special populations included in the economic assistance program. The organizations note: “The acute corona crisis seen in many households in Israel has been exacerbated in the homes of families with children with special needs, who have had to spend a lot on drastic care and care during the crisis.”
Yulia Ben Moshe, founder of the Voice of Rights organization for parents of children with special needs, adds: “Families who receive a disabled child benefit appeared in the first publications as receiving an increased grant. Unfortunately, an examination we did revealed that the children were excluded. “70,000 families, double a grant of NIS 750), which will not be included in the last-minute changes. We need the grant, because the cost of babysitters, the treatments the children needed while we were at home, is much more expensive than routine.”
