This is the 24-year-old Rabbi Akiva Kraus, one of the most important students in the Arazi HaBira neighborhood of Jerusalem, the son of Rabbi Yaakov Kraus, head of the Orchot Yaakov Yeshiva in Modi’in Illit, and son-in-law of Rabbi Isser Hols, one of the most important scholars in Jerusalem.

The late deceased grew up in the city of Modi’in Illit in his youth, and in his youth he first studied at the Netzach HaTorah Yeshiva headed by Rabbi Yaakovzon, and then studied at the Grodno – Beer Yaakov Yeshiva, where he was one of the yeshiva’s and the most diligent.

One of his family members tells in a conversation with Kikar Hashabat that the late R. Akiva was the diamond in the crown, a silky and gentle soul, a huge wise student who just went on vacation with his family in between.

“We are in shock and astonishment, and we are all deeply broken and saddened at the passing of a very dear man,” he says in pain.

The late R. Akiva left behind his wife Sheth and his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, many parents and family members, and his funeral procession is expected to take place in the coming hours.

Earlier, a paramedic in the MDA Israel Lugassi sea-bullying boat said: “When we reached the shore, our lifeguard friend used the man from the water and performed basic resuscitation operations on him. The funeral of the late R. Akiva Kraus will take place tonight in Bnei Brak at the Ponivez House of Life.
