One of the four suspects in Bas van Wijk’s death has confessed to shooting him. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) announced this on Friday.
The four suspects (18, 19, 20 and 20 years old) will also remain detained for two weeks longer, the OM also reports.
On Wednesday, five people were arrested who were linked to the death of Van Wijk in Amsterdam. The man died in broad daylight on a beach near De Oeverlanden park on 8 August.
One of the suspects was released on Thursday. Why he was initially arrested is not yet clear.
According to bystanders, Van Wijk intervened in the theft of a watch. There would have been a quarrel, after which the perpetrator would have fired.
Van Wijk was taken to hospital after the shooting, but died of his injuries there.
