Snapchat will let users add music to recorded videos later this year, which can also be done on TikTok and Instagram. The company has announced that, among other things, writes Variety.
The update makes it possible to add songs from a catalog to photos and videos. This can be done before or after filming. Snap has entered into agreements with various record companies, such as Warner Music and Universal Music, to use the songs.
Snapchat is already testing the feature in Australia and New Zealand. In the fall, all users should be able to add music. A specific date for the update has not been announced.
The music feature would allow Snapchat to better compete with TikTok, which is largely about miming and dancing to music. Music fragments can be added to Stories on Instagram.
