An underage boy was shot at a schoolyard in the Gelderland village of Barneveld on Wednesday evening while he was playing with four friends, the police reported on Thursday afternoon. The boy was treated at the hospital for his injuries.
Initially, those involved assumed that the boy had fallen off a fence, but doctors found a projectile in the boy’s body during an examination.
The police rule out that the projectile got into the minor by playing with his friends. Hence, the incident is treated as a shooting incident.
It is not yet clear what kind of projectile it is. For privacy reasons, the police are unable to provide further information about the victim and are calling on witnesses to report.
