About a week before the playoffs open, most teams are continuing their efforts to improve positions and mostly hoping to stay healthy, while there are those who just want to secure their place among the top eight in the West. Such a direct battle took place between Toronto and Memphis, in which the champion came out with her hand on the top – 99: 108 – and secured second place in the East. The Grizzlies, however, are still unsure of the 8-9 spots that will lead to the playoffs for the right to finish in eighth place and meet LeBron James and the Lakers in the first round.

Whoever is still in the fight for 8-9 places in the West is, of course, San Antonio. The Spurs defeated New Orleans and Zion Williamson 113: 122 tonight and kept a chance to maintain a playoff streak. Earlier, Oklahoma City defeated Washington 103: 121 and increased the chances of finishing in 4-5 places.

After a lame first quarter, which they finished 5 points behind (25:20), the champion players reset the handles, sniped no less than 40 points in the second quarter – and went down to the break in plus 6. They no longer dropped the advantage after that, completed victory number 50 This season – and secured second place in the East.

Pascal Siakam led Toronto with 26 points, Norman Powell contributed 16 and Kyle Laurie finished with 15 points and 9 turnovers (!) Out of Toronto’s 25 in the game. Mark Gasol, by the way, played for the first time against the team that sent him in a trade to Canada in February 2019 and finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

While the Raptors have three games left in the “regular” season and all for protocol only for them, the Grizzlies are waiting for two – against Boston and Milwaukee – and they could have great significance. One win in both games, and they will ensure at least the ninth place and their participation in the “play-in” games. If they lose twice, they may find themselves out. Dillon Brooks stood out for Memphis with 22 points and Grayson Allen added 20.
