Robben has been working for weeks to get back into shape, after standing still for over a year. Groningen will play against FC Emmen on Tuesday, but that match will come too early for Robben.
“My expectation is that he will make his first minutes on Friday,” Buijs told FC Groningen TV. “That is a conscious choice. Last week he participated in many parts of the training and in recent days sometimes even participated in entire training sessions.”
“At Arjen we choose not to play two games in four days. These are also his first games in more than a year. We are still training with the group and individually this week, hopefully he will make his first game minutes on Friday.”
Groningen will take on PEC in-house at 6 p.m. on Friday.
