Microsoft Surface Duo release in late August
It was announced last October, but since then it has been fairly quiet around the Microsoft Surface Duo. Until now. The foldable Android smartphone with two screens would be available at the end of this month Paul Thurrott.
The technology journalist writes on Twitter that the American press was invited on August 12 for a (virtual) introduction to the unique device. Microsoft does not announce which product it concerns in the invitation, but insider Thurrott is almost certain that it is the Duo.
Simultaneously with this prediction, another telecom expert shares new images of the Microsoft Surface Duo. Evan Blass, better known on social media as EvLeaks, has put several advertising photos of the foldable device online.
The device with two screens can be admired extensively on this. As expected, the Surface Duo has a ton of Microsoft apps on board, including the Edge browser. The default search engine is Google again, since the device will run on Android.
Specifications of Microsoft Surface Duo
Furthermore, the pictures show few surprises. The unique Microsoft phone appears to get two 5.6 inch AMOLED screens. These are connected to each other via two hinges, at the top and bottom of the displays. The hinges can rotate completely, so you can ‘close’ and ‘open’ the Surface Duo completely.
There is still some uncertainty about the hardware, but according to Blass, the foldable Microsoft phone is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chip. This fast processor from the stable of Qualcomm is assisted by 6GB of RAM and 64/128 / 256GB storage.
The price tag of the Microsoft Surface Duo is still unclear. It will probably not be cheap, because competing ‘foldables’ such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the first Galaxy Fold cost around 2000 euros. It is also unclear whether the Microsoft phone will be available in the Netherlands at all.
