Hapoel Tel Aviv came out this weekend with an impressive signing: Reggie Apshou, who excelled in the Haifa uniform at the end of last season, signed through his agent, Nadav Moore, at Yannis Castritis’ club, and will play next season in the Reds uniform, with the team having an option for him next season.
Although Apshou (25, 2.03) did not advance to the Final Four with Maccabi Haifa, he has shown excellent ability since arriving in Israel after the Corona break – averaging 13.9 points, eight rebounds and 1.6 assists.
Even before he arrived in Haifa, Apshou also played last season in Italian Reggio Emilia alongside Gal Makal, averaging 11.9 points and 6.4 rebounds in Serie A. He had previously played in Spanish Andorra and before that in German Tübingen.
Another player who could make his way from the Carmel to the red side of Tel Aviv is Yonatan Moore, with whom negotiations have been taking place in recent days. Last season, Moore was one of Maccabi Haifa’s pleasant surprises, with 7.1 points along with 2.9 rebounds in 18 minutes on average.
Along with Apshaou, the red squad is starting to take shape: Yam Madar (if he does not go to the NBA) and Bar Timor will lead the back line, with the intention of adding another guard scorer, alongside Joaquin Schuchman and Raz Adam. The Reds are expected to add another foreigner to the forward position, with Jonathan Moore also likely to arrive. Talib Zana will be the opening chin and will be backed by Daniel Kuperberg.
