RSC Anderlecht has significantly rejuvenated in recent months. CEO Karel Van Eetvelt and chairman Wouter Vandenhaute made a few decisions.
Marc Coucke brought Pär Zetterberg and Frank Arnesen to Brussels. Two former players with a top wage, but they were fired pretty quickly. Arnesen was fired before the arrival of Van Eetvelt, but Zetterberg was shown the door just after his arrival. In Sports / Football magazine an insider explained why both were fired.
“In his first recruitment round, you could see that Marc Coucke is inexperienced and lacks football knowledge. For example, we never knew what Pär Zetterberg was supposed to do. And Frank Arnesen came to Anderlecht to prepare for his retirement.”
Zetterberg returned to his hometown of Falkenberg in Sweden, Arnesen became sports director at Feyenoord.
