Porte about ‘killer wasps’ from Jumbo-Visma: ‘They are so strong’

Richie Porte was able to watch the intense battle between Jumbo-Visma and INEOS from ringside last weekend during the Tour de l’Ain. The Tasmanian was one of the few on the Grand Colombier who could catch up with the execution pace of the two big teams. It was probably fun to watch, but for the pack it is brutal.’

Porte, who has been linked to a return to INEOS, attempted to attack several times on the final day of the Tour de l’Ain. ‘But I was constantly chased by it killer wasps’, he refers to the yellow and black outfit of Jumbo-Visma. The stage eventually went to Primoz Roglic, while Porte had to settle for fifth place.

The Trek-Segafredo rider indicates that Jumbo-Visma and INEOS are far above the rest of the field. “It’s those two against the rest,” said Porte Instagram. “That will undoubtedly be an interesting battle in the coming races, but it is tough for the rest of the peloton.” (photo: Sirotti)
