Beerschot announces through its own channels that the central defender will now remain connected to the Kiel until mid-2023. His previous engagement ended a year earlier. For a long time, Frans’ football heart lay in Lier. As a youngster he broke through at the Lisp and until the end of 2019 he did not play football for any other Belgian club. In between, the chunky man-driver took his chances in the Scottish Premiership twice. At the age of 31, Frans decided to take a breath of fresh air in our national football.
With success, because partly thanks to his defensive steadfastness and header goals against Sporting Lokeren and OH Leuven, Beerschot recently returned to the highest level. For Frans, this means a return to days long gone. On 8 March 2014, he was last active in the Jupiler Pro League, in a 1-1 draw from Lierse at Sporting Charleroi.
