1 augustus 2020 – Stef Nijland says goodbye to professional football. The 31-year-old attacking midfielder will play for DVS’33 Ermelo next season, which plays in the Third Division. The past two years he played for De Graafschap. After the weekend, Nijland joins his new teammates.
“I knew DVS’33 Ermelo because I had been following the Second and Third Division for a number of years. The attacking football and the ambition of the club appealed to me,” says Nijland on the club channel of DVS. “Just like the beautiful sports park when I visited the club. The pleasant conversations with the TC, and later with trainer Peter Wesselink, provided the right feeling for choosing DVS. I am really looking forward to the coming season and look forward to the getting to know the group. I already know a number of boys from the past, so that makes it extra fun. ”
Nijland started his professional career at FC Groningen, where he also completed the youth academy. After his transfer to PSV, Hans Nijland’s son was unable to live up to expectations. He then played for Willem II, NEC, Brisbane Roar, PEC Zwolle and De Graafschap.
