New opening match day: Antwerp-Mouscron, Ostend-Beersch … – Het Nieuwsblad

On the new opening match day of the 2020-2021 season, which normally starts on the weekend of August 8, Antwerp will receive Mouscron in-house on Saturday 8 August. A day later, KV Mechelen plays in-house against Anderlecht and on Monday 10 August, brand-new first division Beerschot will go to Ostend.

The full calendar, which had to be completely redesigned after the decisions of the Pro League on Friday, will not be officially presented until later today.

It is not yet clear whether that first match day can start. It is still awaiting advice from the federal expert group Celeval. For the time being, there is still a ban on team sports in the province of Antwerp and no Antwerp club can play in its own stadium. A decision by provincial governor Berx that may still be “overruled” by Celeval. The group of experts and the federal government may be waiting for the outcome of both cup and promotion finals, which will serve as a test case for the safety measures.

More later.
