Smyths Toys has released a Halo Infinite offer for the Xbox Series X, saying that “The legendary Halo series returns with the biggest Master Chief campaign yet and a groundbreaking, free-to-play multiplayer experience. Play up to 120 FPS with reduced loading times for a seamless experience on the Xbox Series X. ”

update: Xbox has confirmed that Halo Infinite multiplayer will be free. Read the rumors below and this tweet for confirmation.

The section has since been removed, but the page below shows the original:

Both Windows Central sources claim to be known by Xbox Klobrille confirmed the claim and that the Halo Infinite multiplayer is free-to-play. Klobrille adds that the 120 FPS is a target for Arena mode on the Xbox Series X and that the multiplayer includes a Battle Pass system as well as new customization in the Halo series.

Earlier we heard that Halo Infinite’s campaign will run at 60 FPS, and the idea that multiplayer will be released differently from the single player fits into 343’s plan that Halo Infinite should become more of a platform than a game in its own right.

343 debunked rumors that the multiplayer mode wouldn’t come out at launch and talked about the game’s visual style. “The team is working to address the feedback around detail, clarity and accuracy.”
