Morocco prohibits flights to and from the Netherlands

Morocco has canceled all direct flights to and from the Netherlands. The measure will certainly apply until 31 August.

The reason for this cancellation, according to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is that the bilateral agreements on direct flights between the two countries have expired. Talks are currently underway to find new agreements.

According to the media, the real reason is probably the decision of the Netherlands to introduce an entry ban for Morocco, preventing Moroccans from traveling to the European country.

Dutch nationals currently in Morocco must now return to the Netherlands via indirect flights. It is possible to fly to the Netherlands via Germany and Belgium.

After the declaration of a state of emergency in Morocco in March this year, the repatriation of people from the Netherlands was also very difficult. The tense relations between Morocco and the Netherlands would be the reason for this. The Netherlands regularly interferes with internal affairs in Morocco.
