Maccabi Tel Aviv continues to dilute the staff and budget ahead of the start of the 2020/21 season. After loaning young defender Noam Cohen to Hapoel Hadera earlier today (Thursday) and parting ways with a few players, the champion announced that she had reached an agreement with the Atromitos team from Greece over the loan of goalkeeper Andreas Janiotis for the season.
Daniel Tennenbaum, who recorded a record season last year, will continue to serve as Maccabi Tel Aviv’s senior goalkeeper and his replacement is expected to be the young Daniel Peretz, who received minutes in the preparation game against Betar Jerusalem and impressed. As for Lianiotis, the Greek arrived at Maccabi Tel Aviv on a first-team goal, but was already injured in the Toto Cup against Kiryat Shmona and lost the jersey to Tenenbaum. After the championship was decided, Janiotis made three appearances, among them the champion’s only loss in the league during which the goalkeeper conceded two goals between the legs.
The disappointing Greek, who joined Maccabi Tel Aviv on a free transfer in the summer of 2019, played for the Greek club in the 2017/18 season under coach Damir Kennedy, who also returned for a second term on the team and returned Yanniotis who is expected to receive the first goalkeeper jersey. The Israeli brakeman Tal Kahila, who is wanted by several teams in the Premier League, also plays in Atromitos.
