Leclerc: “Fourth place felt like victory”

Charles Leclerc is incredibly happy with his fourth place finish in the F1 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone. Leclerc’s Ferrari started from eighth place. “I am extremely happy today. I finished fourth and that’s normally no reason to be happy, but this feels like a win. I don’t know where we got that speed from, but we were very, very fast on the hard tires. , certainly the last stint of the race today. ”

At the end of the race, Leclerc faced Lewis Hamilton behind him. “It was very close to Lewis, but I had to choose my fights. I was still trying to keep him behind, but he was clearly way too fast for us. This morning and today I spent all day executing Plan C. , that’s a one-stop strategy. I’m glad it worked out like this. ”

The warm weather seems to suit the Ferrari, so Leclerc hopes for many sunny days in the rest of the season. “Today we were very fast and also last year the tendency was that where the weather was warm, we catch up on Mercedes and the others. So yes, I think you can say that warm weather is our car. I want 2020. finishing well and being able to look back and think; we took every opportunity that presented itself. That same goal is the same for the team, looking back at the first five races I can be satisfied with what we did. We are not fighting for positions we would like , but given the situation we are in, we can only try to maximize what we have. And we do, so I’m happy with what we’ve achieved so far. ”
