Former English footballer and trainer John Talbut has passed away at the age of 79. Talbut won the FA Cup with West Bromwich and was afterwards still a player (and trainer) at KV Mechelen.
John Talbut defended – literally and figuratively as a defender – the colors of Burnley and West Bromwich in the 50s and 60s. With the latter club he conquered the FA Cup, the highlight of his career.
In his later days he played 5 more seasons for KV Mechelen, where he also took over as a trainer after his career. Not much later, his son Mark also made his debut for KV Mechelen. Talbut junior would build an extensive career as a player and later also as a trainer (mainly in the lower classes).
