John Dibertolomeo: The captain has agreed to return to Maccabi Tel Aviv

After winning the 54th championship in its history, Maccabi Tel Aviv continues preparations for 2020/21. And the eight players from the existing squad who have a contract for next season seem to be expected to be joined by another one – captain John Dibertolomeo. According to journalist Emiliano Carcia from Sportando, the 29-year-old guard (1.83) will also wear yellow next season, which will be his fourth at the club.

As you may recall, after winning the championship, it was published here on the website that the Yellows are in negotiations with the captain and are discussing a three-year contract, with the direction being positive and there is optimism to close the deal in the coming days. Following the two injuries Dibertlomio suffered this season, Maccabi Tel Aviv are interested in inserting a clause that will allow them to be released from the contract in the event that one of those injuries (the shoulder muscle and the Achilles tendon) recurs.

Dibertlomio arrived at Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2017 after two successful seasons at Maccabi Haifa, and became a significant factor in the team. Until injured he is a partner this season in eight league games, during which he averaged 7.9 points per game, 2.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 21.8 minutes per game. In team games in the Euroleague the guard partnered 12 times until he was injured and averaged a similar average with 7.8 points per game and 47% off the arc.
