James Murdoch, the youngest son of Rupert Murdoch, has resigned from the News Corp. board of directors, in what constitutes his final departure from his family business. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal. “My resignation stems from disagreements over some of the content published in the company’s media channels, as well as from certain strategic decisions made in it,” Murdoch said in his resignation letter, published yesterday.

Murdoch is considered a leading candidate to run his family business in the future, but in recent years he has increasingly severed ties with his family’s friendships. Last year he retired from the position of CEO of the 21st Century Fox Company after significant parts of its entertainment division were sold to Walt Disney.RepoA giant raging in his native Australia, James Murdoch criticized the coverage of climate change in News Corp. newspapers and the corporation’s Fox News network.

“We thank James for his many years of service to the company. We wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Rupert – CEO and Acting Chairman of News Corp. 89-year-old Rupert Murdoch is still the chairman of Fox and the current chairman of News Corp.

James Murdoch’s political leanings were always at odds with those of others in the family empire. In 2017, he donated $ 1 million to the Anti-Defamation League after condemning remarks made by President Trump following a white supremacy event in Charlottesville, Virginia. He and his wife, Katherine Murdoch, have also donated more than $ 1 million to organizations that support the election of Democratic candidate Joe Biden. Since leaving Fox, James has opened an investment fund called Lupa Systems, but remains on the board of directors of News Corp. The Murdoch family is a major shareholder in Fox News and News Corp. – which owns, among other things, the Wall Street Journal.
