IDF attacks in Gaza in response to launching incendiary balloons – Security News

An IDF fighter jet and aircraft attacked Hamas’ underground infrastructure in the northern Gaza Strip this evening (Thursday), in response to the blowing up of explosive balloons from Gaza to Israeli territory.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said that “the State of Israel will not accept any violation of sovereignty and harm to the residents of the south. In Gaza, it should be understood that there is no other solution – only bringing the boys home and peace will lead to economic growth in the Gaza Strip. If the terrorist organizations have not yet understood: Whoever puts Israel to the test will be severely harmed. ”

During the day, three fires broke out in open areas in the Eshkol and Ashkelon regional councils following incendiary balloons inflated by Arabs from the Gaza Strip.

The Nature and Parks Authority said that about 300 dunams caught fire in the Bari Reserve. One of the explosive balloons was located in the industrial area of Arad. A police sapper discovered an explosive device with a delay mechanism – and neutralized it.

At least ten incendiary and explosive balloons were flown in the last day from the Gaza Strip to Israel, after almost two months of complete silence.

The police emphasize that the presence of a delay system for activating the charge increases the importance of keeping a distance from the explosive balloons. “We are once again appealing to the public that in any case that raises suspicion, we must contact Hotline 100 and leave the treatment in the hands of the police forces who are skilled in it.”
