15:12 – Nico Hülkenberg misses the Grand Prix of Great Britain. The replacement for Sergio Perez remains on the sidelines on Sunday afternoon in a very unfortunate way. Racing Point confirms that the German cannot participate due to a problem with the Mercedes engine.
Hülkenberg was flown in on haste from Cologne on Thursday, due to a positive corona test by Sergio Perez. The cheerful driver from Emmerik was prepared within 24 hours for his unexpected F1 return and afterwards made a solid impression. He misses Q3 on Saturday, but that should not be a shame because of the poor preparation.
On Sunday, however, fate struck Hülkenberg. All efforts to make his comeback appear to have been in vain for the time being. When Racing Point wanted to send the German out to the grid, the team noticed a problem with the RP20’s Power Unit. Mechanics tried to repair the power source in haste before starting from the pit lane, but that too turned out to be too ambitious. Hülkenberg misses the start in Silverstone and misses his F1 return.
