End of period bHapoel Holon. The club announced this morning (Sunday) the release of captain Shlomi Harush (32, 1.88). The guard was released following a special exit clause in his contract that allows both sides to cancel the existing agreement for the upcoming game season, 2020/21.
“We thank Shlomi for his years of contribution and achievements and wish him great success along the way. “There is no doubt that he has played a significant part in the club’s success in recent years and in his return to the top of Israeli basketball,” the club said.
Harush, who grew up at Hapoel Kfar Saba / Kochav Yair, joined Hapoel Holon in 2011 by a joint decision of coach Dan Shamir and manager Pini Gershon. He played for the team for four years, left for a short time for Hapoel Eilat and returned again in 2016. In February 2018, he won the cup with the team after an 84:86 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Chairman of the Club, Ethan Lanciano: “After many years, it was decided to say goodbye to our captain with a heavy heart. Holon is known as someone who respects its symbols and has always known how to respect them and Shlomi is indeed a symbol who has been part of the club for nine years. ”
Lanciano shed light on the reasons for the break-up: “Unfortunately we are in a time when some things are not going well as usual, there are quite a few reasons between the given situation of the club in particular and basketball in general. Needless to say, my personal love for Shlomi and certainly the appreciation of the audience and the system over the years. ” In conclusion, he said: “I want to wish Shlomi a lot of success in my name and on behalf of all the fans and I have no doubt that our paths will cross later, thank you Captain!”
