Some Hapoel Haifa players were surprised today (Friday) to discover that after signing new contracts – they will demand a cut of about 15% of their salary. The demand is for senior players like Dor Malul, Eden Ben Best, Capiloto and Ben Wahba to try to cut even 30% of their salaries, as they hold a contract drafted before the Corona crisis.

Ness Zamir, Gal Erel, Almog Bouzaglo and other players will have to make further adjustments to the outline of the cuts. Owner Yoav Katz has already made it clear that anyone who does not agree to a pay cut will not stay at the club. Some players are opposed to a further cut in their salaries after having already made a substantial reduction.

Haifa clarified that during a working conversation with the budget control this week, prior to the budget approval, a demand was raised from the Ministry of Finance to increase the cuts in players’ salaries compared to last year.
