Shortly before Maccabi Haifa goes on the field in Kiryat Shmona and officially opens the 2020/21 season in the Toto Cup game, goalkeeper Guy Haimov, who ended his contract and left the club after two years, said goodbye in a post on Instagram. As we reported in Sport1, a number of teams from Cyprus have groped regarding the possibility that he will return to the neighboring island where he played in the 2012/13 season in AA Larnaca under Ran Ben Shimon.

“A new season has already begun. Ever since I can remember I am used to preparing during this period for training camps, games in Europe, flights… We plan our days, our hours and the Creator organizes for us what is right for us at any given moment. Then I will start from the end, “Haimov began.

“I sum up two years in Haifa, it looks like we only unloaded the truck yesterday, and hop here you are packing the house again, things suddenly seep in, the realization that another stop on the way has passed her, is over and you are on your way to a new destination on this journey called ‘life’. So what did we have in Haifa, ups and downs, successes, failures, countless struggles, injury, Corona and all of these I learned mostly about myself and my family – and a lot!

“So true, my two years at Maccabi Haifa cannot be defined as a professional success, but all the external struggles that a player experiences on the mental side on all sides of the profession, is actually the real struggle and I try to always take the good things and look at the half full glass from those moments I experienced at the club , And there were quite a few moments like that. The second year actually sums up my time in Haifa, a year that started fantastically (Strasbourg) and ended with a complex shoulder surgery and a force majeure that has been hovering over us all for half a year.

I would like to thank Maccabi Haifa who helped me with my rehabilitation and made sure to return me healthy and intact even during the days of the Corona closure. Special thanks to the medical staff without whom all this would not have happened. I was happy to meet good people along the way. Good luck to the friends in the first game tonight. ”
