For a moment, even the victory seemed feasible for Verstappen, because league-leader Lewis Hamilton also had a flat tire in the last round. The Mercedes leader managed to finish first on the three remaining good tires. The British six-time world champion recorded his third consecutive win this season in Formula 1 and the 87th in his career. The Mercedes leader won the British grand prix for the seventh time.

Charles Leclerc also took advantage of Bottas’ flat tire and drove his Ferrari third across the finish line.
