Fabio Jakobsen’s heavy crash still hangs like a gray blanket over this Tour of Poland. The Deceuninck-Quick-Step rider is currently in a critical condition at Sosnowiec hospital, but is out of danger. However, the race continues, with the second stage to Zabrze.
The second stage is the shortest with 151.5 kilometers. Starting in Opole, the route first heads south and then east to Zabrze, where it finishes after three local laps of 6.1 kilometers. The climb to Góra Świętej Anny of the second category creates a serious peak in the profile.
However, this climb was already registered before half-price. Pascal Ackermann was awarded the win in Zabrze in 2019 after the declassification of Fabio Jakobsen and a sprint is also expected now. The riders will start at 3.05 pm and finish around 6.30 pm.
The Tour of Poland cannot be followed directly this afternoon on the two main channels of Eurosport, but the stage can be seen via the Eurosport Player.
