In the opening stage, the peloton races over 187 kilometers from Saint-Affrique to Cazouls-lès-Béziers. The ride starts with a local lap of more than 25 kilometers around the starting point, after which the route is driven south to first the Col de l’Hôpital and then the second category Col des Très Vents. After 152 kilometers, the caravan passes the finish for the first time, after which another local loop of 35 kilometers follows until the actual finish.
The starting signal for the first stage is given at 11.45 am. The arrival time is estimated at 4.17 pm. The game is not shown directly on television.
