The women’s peloton is only ready for its second WorldTour race of 2020. But Strade Bianche is immediately a very nice one to win. Many eyes are on Annemiek van Vleuten, who is already in high form. Can she cheer for the second year in a row in Siena?
Like the men, the women start the white road race in Siena. On the way they are pushed for 136 kilometers through the Tuscan hills, of which 31.6 are unpaved. The route has eight so-called sterrati, of which the strip of San Martino in Grania (9.5 km) is by far the longest. The finish is in the Piazza del Campo of Siena after a steep climb with gradients of up to 16 percent.
Strade Bianche’s women’s edition starts at 11.55 am. Arrival is expected between 3:44 PM and 4:15 PM. The RAI starts its broadcast from 3 p.m. The game can also be followed via Sporza around 3.10 p.m. The images can also be seen with a Global Cycling Network competition pass.
