Earlier this week, Activision emphasized once again that the next installment in the Call of Duty series will simply be released this fall. The publisher also indicated that the reveal will not be long in coming and also hinted that this reveal could be done via the Battle Royale game Call of Duty: Warzone. Now, a few days later, it looks like the Call of Duty 2020 teasing in Warzone has begun.
Yesterday suddenly appeared messages of players who were shown texts out of nowhere while playing Warzone. Some players indicated that they got this ‘glitch’ in the image after opening a bunker on the map, but others did not. So it seems that the lyrics appear randomly. The clip below shows how it looks.

As you can see the text “KNOW YOUR HISTORY” appears on the screen. Players will also see Russian words. When you translate this text into English, you end up with “Doomed to Repeat It”. The lyrics don’t give much away yet, but it seems that we are really dealing with teasers for Call of Duty 2020 here. The new title is rumored to be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and possibly a reboot of the Black Ops. franchise.
Now that the teasing has begun, an official announcement will probably not be long. We may even find out more next Monday. Several partners, including Call of Duty YouTubers and Charlie INTEL, have received a mysterious chest from Activision. Each box has its own serial number and is locked with a combination lock. The included instructions indicate that those who have received a chest can send a message to a special number next Monday at 6:00 PM, after which they will receive the code to open the chest. So what’s in the box is still a secret, but it seems likely that this also has to do with Call of Duty 2020. So to be continued!
